Fourth Day of Vacation

Our fourth day of vacation we spent with Grandma & Grandpa, Uncle John, Aunt Kim, cousins Caitlin & Jack, and good friends Jackie & Sean.  Jackie & Sean were nice enough to drive up from Orange County.  We went to Jack's Bistro with them for breakfast, and later for lunch we met up with the family at a favorite spot to eat, Padaro Grill.  The weather was great, the food was fantastic, and Emma took her first picture with a celebrity.  Diana Agron from the show Glee was there, and she was very sweet when we asked to take a picture with her.  She gave special attention to Caitlin and Emma.

Third Day of Vacation

The third day of vacation started with Emma's first trip to the beach.  It was cold and gray so we just dipped her toes in and stayed a few minutes.  She had a good time, even if it was a short time.  Then we drove to Thousand Oaks for a big family gathering at Uncle John & Aunt Kim's house.  Grandma & Grandpa, all the Aunt & Uncles, and all the cousins were there.  We swam in the pool, ate a lot of yummy food, and celebrated Grandma & cousin Nathan's birthdays.  Emma also squeezed in a nice nap.  It was a lot to take in in one day. :)

Second Day of Vacation

On our second day of vacation we spent the morning with Great Aunt Noella, Cousin Sue, and Grandma & Grandpa.  In the afternoon we visited Aunt Mary, Uncle Robert, and cousins Izzy & Elly.  Then we had a nice dinner back at Grandma & Grandpas' with Uncle David.

First Day of Vacation

Here are some pictures from the first day of our California trip.  Emma did great on the flight!  She made friends with a couple of women around us, and ate up all of their attention the whole way there.  Uncle John picked us up at the airport and Emma slept all the way to his house in Thousand Oaks.  Once we got there Emma had fun playing with her cousins Caitlin & Jack, and also enjoyed attention from Aunt Kim & Uncle John.  Time flew by, and we hit the road again to our final destination Carpinteria.  When we got there we had a very warm welcome from Aunt Mary & Uncle Robert & cousins Izzy & Elly (who brought balloons!!), Grandma & Grandpa, & Great Aunt Noella & Cousin Sue.

Beating the Heat

The weather has become officially miserable here in the Wild West.  Temps in the 110's!  We have been spending a lot of time in our mini pool which we moved from our back patio to our garage so we are away from the sun and desert wind.  With a few tricks, like starting the car a/c 5 minutes before we leave the house, I am able to take Emma to babytime at the library a couple of times a week.  Last week I was sick so James took her, being the amazing Daddy that he is.  It has been busy around here with Father's Day, James's birthday, our 4 year wedding anniversary, and Mom Z's birthday.  Grandma and Grandpa Z were kind enough to babysit Emma so that we could go on an anniversary date.  We drank, I mean ate, lunch and saw the movie "42".  Here are some pictures from James's birthday.  We went to a covered community pool for a few hours.  It is a great pool because 1) It's completely shaded. 2) It has lots of spraying fountains and contraptions. 3) You walk into the water on a slant, like the ocean.  The shallow end is shallow enough that Emma can just sit in the water.
