Pregnancy

At the end of July we found out we are having a girl!  We are very excited, and it was fun telling the girl cousins here in Tucson.  Abby,5, yelled out "Awesome!" and gave Amber, 10, a high five in excitement.  Abby was a little nervous about what to do with a boy cousin.  We are naming our daughter Emma.  The pregnancy has been going really smoothly, and Emma is healthy.  On Wednesday the 22nd I will be 6 months.  At our ultrasound we had to wait an hour to find out what we were having.  She had her legs crossed in the beginning so the ultrasound technician focused on everything else for the first 50 minutes.  It was really hard to wait so long, but they did warn us that sometimes they can't tell at first and you have to come back.  So at least we were able to find out in the first visit.  Luckily we have two highly qualified registry consultants who live here (Tricia & Michael), so making our baby registry was a piece of cake.  If you would like to check them out we have one with Target and one with Amazon.  Lucky Emma will be having a San Diego and Tucson shower.

August

August has been a very busy month for us!  We have been house hunting and found a house we liked before the school year started.  At first this was a huge relief because it was nice to have found something before beginning the school year.  However, the house inspection did not go well.  The house had tons of problems, and the seller was not willing to cover the costs of them.  So we are on the hunt again.
The first day of school was August 2nd.  I am teaching second grade this year for a change.  I don't have the stress of dealing with little ones this year, but I have gained the stress of learning a new grade's curriculum.  I do have a lot to be thankful for this year...so far my roster is only 19 students...a great staff....a lot more resources...a lot more technology...a shorter commute...a big class with lots of storage...and my Mom comes in a lot after school to help with filing, grading, etc.  The first two weeks have had their beginning of year stresses, but I am starting to get in the groove.

July Mt. Lemmon Trip

James and I took a trip to Mt. Lemmon before the school year started.  We had taken a trip here before, but didn't make it very far up.  Mt. Lemmon is a nice escape because it's only about 45 minutes from where we live and the farther up you go the more forest-like and opposite of Tucson landscape it is.  This time we were determined to make it to Summer Haven, about a 2 hour drive up the mountain.  The closer we got to our destination the worse the weather was looking.  When we got to Summer Haven Mother Nature was in full force!  We were caught in a terrible monsoon with lots of thunder, lightning, and hail.  As soon as it showed signs of clearing we went right back down the mountain.  No hiking that day. :(
