First Day of Vacation

Here are some pictures from the first day of our California trip.  Emma did great on the flight!  She made friends with a couple of women around us, and ate up all of their attention the whole way there.  Uncle John picked us up at the airport and Emma slept all the way to his house in Thousand Oaks.  Once we got there Emma had fun playing with her cousins Caitlin & Jack, and also enjoyed attention from Aunt Kim & Uncle John.  Time flew by, and we hit the road again to our final destination Carpinteria.  When we got there we had a very warm welcome from Aunt Mary & Uncle Robert & cousins Izzy & Elly (who brought balloons!!), Grandma & Grandpa, & Great Aunt Noella & Cousin Sue.

Beating the Heat

The weather has become officially miserable here in the Wild West.  Temps in the 110's!  We have been spending a lot of time in our mini pool which we moved from our back patio to our garage so we are away from the sun and desert wind.  With a few tricks, like starting the car a/c 5 minutes before we leave the house, I am able to take Emma to babytime at the library a couple of times a week.  Last week I was sick so James took her, being the amazing Daddy that he is.  It has been busy around here with Father's Day, James's birthday, our 4 year wedding anniversary, and Mom Z's birthday.  Grandma and Grandpa Z were kind enough to babysit Emma so that we could go on an anniversary date.  We drank, I mean ate, lunch and saw the movie "42".  Here are some pictures from James's birthday.  We went to a covered community pool for a few hours.  It is a great pool because 1) It's completely shaded. 2) It has lots of spraying fountains and contraptions. 3) You walk into the water on a slant, like the ocean.  The shallow end is shallow enough that Emma can just sit in the water.

Here are some pictures from the splash pad at the zoo.

Carrots-NOT a fan! :D

Emma had a very strong reaction to trying carrots on Father's Day...

Father's Day

Yesterday James celebrated his first Father's Day.  Considering it was a million degrees outside we only left the house to go to church.  The rest of the day we relaxed and played at home.

Abby, Emma, Zoe, & Amber the night before Father's Day.  Tricia & Michael hosted a delicious dinner at their house.

Miscellaneous

Yes I got my first tooth today.  No you can't take a picture of it.

All of these wonderful photos were taken by my friend Kalei.  The little boy is her son Dylan who has been on the blog before.  The other little girl is Vivian.
